Triple “S” Sanitation traces its roots back to the 1960s, serving the rural communities of Chatham-Kent and the surrounding area long before modern equipment and technology shaped today’s industry. The company’s very first setup was a Model H International tractor outfitted with a vacuum tank and a two-cylinder milk pump.
Originally known as Smitty’s Septic Service, the business began as a small, hard-working operation built on dedication, and a commitment to helping local families and farms. Over the decades, those early values laid the foundation for what would eventually become
Triple “S” Sanitation.
Triple “S” was founded by Murray Smith, who started the business as a small residential pumping service to help supplement the farm income and provide for the Smith family. What began as a simple addition to farm life soon became an important part of the community.
In 1973, Murray’s son George Smith and his wife Evelyn took over the business and purchased the first new truck—a milestone that marked the beginning of a new chapter. Through hard work and dedication, George and Evelyn built the company into one known for its exceptional service and strong reputation.
In 2013, their daughter Tracy and her husband Jason Hedden continued the family tradition by taking over the business. They carried forward the same values and commitment to service that Triple “S” Sanitation has been known for across generations.
Fast forward to the spring of 2024, when Triple “S” Sanitation entered an exciting new chapter with its purchase by Dig'R Wright Excavating Inc.—a proud, family-run business led by Eugene Hoekstra and his sons, Darryl and Jordan. With 25 successful years of family operation already to their name, the Hoekstra family ensured a smooth and seamless transition from the Smith family, who had built and guided Triple “S” for more than 50 years.
Under this new ownership, Triple “S” Sanitation Limited is stronger than ever. Backed by fresh energy, expanded resources, and the same dedication to customer care, the company continues to deliver the exceptional service that the Smith family made a tradition—now with even greater capacity to serve the community.
